1. Who We Are

Weather I Need is developed and operated by Palms Yazılım Ticaret Limited Şirketi ("we", "us", "our"), a limited liability company incorporated under the laws of the Republic of Turkey (Trade Registry No: 13484). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling any personal information we obtain from you with care and respect.

For users in the European Union, we act as the Data Controller as defined under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation, "GDPR").

For users in Turkey, we act as the Veri Sorumlusu as defined under Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data ("KVKK").

2. What Data We Collect and Why

2.1 Location Data

When you select "Nearby" as your search scope, the App requests access to your device's location (latitude and longitude). This data is used solely to find cities near your current position.

• Purpose: Identify nearby cities matching your requested weather condition.
• Legal basis (GDPR): Your explicit consent, given when you grant location permission to your device operating system (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
• Legal basis (KVKK): Your explicit consent (açık rıza), given via your device's permission system.
• Retention: Location coordinates are transmitted to our server in real time, used to query the GeoNames city database, and are NOT stored, logged, or retained in any form.
• Third-party sharing: Latitude and longitude are forwarded to GeoNames (geonames.org) solely to retrieve nearby city names.

2.2 Device Language / Locale

The App reads your device's system language setting to display the interface in the appropriate language (English, French, Spanish, or Turkish). This information is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

2.3 Distance Unit Preference

Your preference for kilometres or miles is stored locally on your device using the operating system's secure local storage (Shared Preferences / UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device.

2.4 Advertising

The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob and its mediation partners may collect and process:

• Advertising identifiers (e.g. Google Advertising ID)
• Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
• IP address and approximate location derived from it
• Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

This data is used to serve and personalize ads, measure ad performance, and for fraud prevention. You can manage your ad preferences through your device settings or the privacy options available within the App.

For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland: Personalized ads are shown only after you provide consent through the consent dialog displayed on first launch. You may change your consent at any time through the App's settings.

For users in US states with privacy laws (e.g. California, Virginia): You can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information through the privacy options in the App.

The App also integrates the TikTok Business SDK to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns on TikTok. TikTok may collect:

• Device identifiers (e.g. advertising ID / IDFA)
• App event data (e.g. app installs, app opens)
• IP address and approximate location derived from it

This data is used for advertising attribution and campaign measurement. Device identifiers may be used for tracking purposes as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. On iOS, this tracking only occurs after you grant permission via the system prompt. You can opt out at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or via Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

2.5 Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, process, or store the following data in the mobile app itself:

• Your name, email address, or any account credentials
• Health, biometric, or financial data
• Any data from minors

This statement applies to the Weather I Need mobile app. Visits to our website or policy pages are governed by the website privacy policy available at /privacy/.

3. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services to provide its functionality. These third parties may process limited technical data in accordance with their own terms, policies, and infrastructure practices:

• Google AdMob (advertising) — Serves ads within the App. AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data as described in section 2.4. Privacy Policy
• TikTok Business SDK (advertising attribution) — Measures the effectiveness of our TikTok ad campaigns. May collect device identifiers and app event data for attribution and tracking purposes. Privacy Policy
• GeoNames (city database) — Retrieve city names by country, continent, or proximity. Website
• Open-Meteo (weather forecasts) — Retrieve 16-day weather forecast data for cities. Only city coordinates (latitude/longitude) are sent to request forecast data. Terms

We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your personal data with any third party for marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes beyond what is described in the advertising section above.

4. Data Transfers Outside Your Country

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), please note:

• GeoNames is operated from Switzerland, which has an EU adequacy decision.
• Open-Meteo is operated from Germany (EU), within the EEA.
• OpenStreetMap Foundation is based in the United Kingdom (UK adequacy decision).

If you are located in Turkey: Data transfers to third-party services listed above occur for the sole purpose of providing the App's weather search functionality, as disclosed in this policy.

5. Your Rights Under GDPR (EU/EEA Users)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under GDPR:

• Right of Access (Article 15): Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Rectification (Article 16): Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Right to Erasure (Article 17): Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
• Right to Restriction (Article 18): Request that we restrict processing of your personal data.
• Right to Data Portability (Article 20): Receive your personal data in a machine-readable format.
• Right to Object (Article 21): Object to processing of your personal data.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time by revoking location permission in your device settings. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal.
• Right to Lodge a Complaint: Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Because we do not store personal data on our servers, most of these rights are exercised by managing your device's app permissions and local storage settings directly.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at hello@palmsandbirds.com and we will take steps to delete such information.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, accidental loss, alteration, or disclosure. However, no data transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
